چکیده

INKA is a natural language interface to facilitate knowledge acquisition during expert system development for electronic instrument trouble-thooting. The expert system design methodology develops a domain definition, called GLIB, in the form of a semantic grammar. This grammar format enables GLIB to be used with the INGLISH interface, which constrains users to create statements within a subset of English. Incremental patting in INGLISH allows immediate remedial information to be generated if a user deviates from the sublanguage. Sentences are translated into production rules using the methodology of lexical-functional grammar. The system is written in Sms/ltalk and, in INK,A, produces rides for a Prolog inference engine.

Towards Portable Controlled Natural Languages for Querying Ontologies

Natural Language Interfaces (NLIs) to structured data allow users to interact with a system using written or spoken language to perform tasks that require knowledge of a formal language. Due to natural language complexity and ambiguity, such interfaces usually support a Controlled Natural Language (CNL): a subset of a natural language that includes certain vocabulary and grammar rules that have...

Lattice numerical simulations of hydraulic fractures interacting with oblique natural interfaces

The hydraulic fracturing propagation is strongly influenced by the existence of natural fractures. This is a very important factor in hydraulic fracturing operations in unconventional reservoirs. Various studies have been done to consider the effect of different parameters such as stress anisotropy, toughness, angle of approach and fluid properties on interaction mechanisms including crossing, ...

A Contrastive Study of Request Speech Act in English and Persian Novels: Natural Semantic Metalanguage Approach

The Natural Semantic Metalanguage (NSM) Approach claims that there are some universalities in all languages. Speech acts seem to be present in all languages, but considering this approach, research has not indicated whether request speech act differs from one language to another. Thus, this study intended to investigate whether request strategies are used differently in English and Persian roma...

Controlled English for Knowledge Representation

Knowledge representation is a long-standing research area of computer science that aims at representing human knowledge in a form that computers can interpret. Most knowledge representation approaches, however, have suffered from poor user interfaces. It turns out to be difficult for users to learn and use the logic-based languages in which the knowledge has to be encoded. A new approach to des...
